Eye Refractive Errors – Astigmatism

Astigmatism – what is it, what is astigmatism?

Astigmatism is one of the so-called refractive eye errors (other refractive eye errors are myopia or nearsightedness, age-related farsightedness or presbyopia, farsightedness or hyperopia).

Astigmatism symptoms: if you have it, it can mean that you see blurry (but blurry in a different way than if you have nearsightedness or myopia), you can only see blurry at certain distances. You can only have astigmatism when you look up close, and you can only have astigmatism when you look into the distance. You can see curved lines instead of straight ones, the image can be distorted… How you perceive (see) astigmatism depends very much on the individual person.

Astigmatism in children: Astigmatism can also occur in children, in adults, in fact at any time, it is a very fluid refractive error of the eye. And precisely because it changes a lot (on which axis you have it, at what distance you have it, in which eye you have astigmatism), it is good to check every now and then whether you have astigmatism or not. And if you notice that you have it, you take the necessary steps (eye exercises for astigmatism) to eliminate it.
